Welcome to the newly designed website of the Marion County Coroner's Office. This web site has both public-viewable and members-only web pages. We hope that you find the site content informative and useful. 

As a citizen of Marion County, Indiana, you are served by a Coroner. The Coroner is constitutionally elected for four-year terms. The Coroner's office "Speaks for the Dead" by investigating unusual and unexplained deaths. The Coroner’s Office serves all those who die in Marion County, and supports decedent’s families and all associated agencies. The office provides in a timely manner an accurate completion of the Coroner's Verdict and Death Certificates.  For all decedent affairs, the office provides public education, support, compassion and confidentiality.  All personnel strive to maintain the highest level of integrity while serving the community.

The office annually investigates about 1500 deaths occuring within Marion County. These deaths result from homicides, suicides, accidents and natural causes.  Specific training requirements are outlined by the State Training Board, with mandatory continuing education credit requirements, in which all investigators are trained.
